Barberry was incorporated in 2003, and our passion for rail stems from our conviction that each mode has a specific role in a value chain to transport cargo between appropriate nodal points; and more importantly that Barberry can deliver enhanced supply chain value to customers through sustainable rail logistics solutions. Barberry is committed to migrate cargo volumes from road to rail, where appropriate, and commercially sustainable, and to this end focuses on identifying, designing, developing, operating and managing integrated intermodal solutions, with a specialty in handing, stockpiling, loading of trains with bulk commodities such as coal and chrome.
Barberry operates 12 rail siding facilities in South Africa from which Barberry rails in excess of 10 million tons per annum for its customers. The rail facilities are multi-user sidings with installed infrastructure including weighbridges, cloud-based weighbridge systems, human resources including operators, supervisors and health and safety officers and front-end loaders with calibrated load cells to load TFR wagons within the permitted parameters. Barberry provides stock reconciliation services for its customers and is appointed as the rail interface for the customer whereby Barberry provides supply chain services.
