Established in 1953, Rely Precision Castings has played an important role in South Africa’s manufacturing industry for more than seven decades. From its origins as a sand-casting operation, Rely has evolved into the largest investment casting foundry in the Southern Hemisphere and Africa, supplying high-integrity precision cast components to demanding industries across South Africa and the African continent, with selected products exported into Europe and the UK.
Based in Boksburg, Gauteng, Rely combines investment casting expertise, advanced metallurgical capability and comprehensive technical support to manufacture complex components where quality, consistency and performance are critical. Its customer base spans mining, rail and transportation, energy, defence, petrochemical, engineering and other specialised industrial sectors.
A key differentiator is Rely’s ability to produce intricate geometries and challenging components across a broad range of materials. Its casting capabilities include stainless steels, nickel- and cobalt-based alloys, heat- and wear-resistant alloys, low-alloy steels and non-ferrous alloys, with component weights ranging from approximately 10 grams to 120 kg.
Rely’s value proposition extends well beyond the foundry. The company works closely with customers from product development and material selection through tooling, rapid prototyping, casting, heat treatment, testing, and final quality assurance. Its rapid prototyping capability enables customers to validate and refine designs before committing to full-scale production, reducing development time, manufacturing risk and the potential cost of design changes.
