ENHANCING RAILWAY CAPACITY & QUALITY OF SERVICES THROUGH NEW OPERATING MODELS & PARTNERSHIPS FOR SEAMLESS REGIONAL INTEGRATION & TRADE

Gibela Sees SARA Rail Event as Premier Platform to Connect and Collaborate with Regional Railway Operators

As the Southern African Railways Association (SARA) conference and exhibition approaches, set to take place from 20th to 23rd August at the Sandton Convention Centre, Gibela’s acting CEO, Reggie Boqo, expresses the company’s enthusiasm and outlines their strategic vision in the latest video for the SARA event.

Reggie Boqo emphasises Gibela Rail’s commitment to being a leading force in the rail industry, focusing on the development and manufacturing of state-of-the-art rolling stock. “Our approach to the industry is very inclusive in that we develop the entire ecosystem in which we operate. That includes the communities and the small businesses,” he states.

Gibela’s dedication to economic development is evident in their socio-economic programmes aimed at uplifting local communities and supporting suppliers. This transformation-biased approach, combined with a commitment to innovation and excellence, positions Gibela as a key player both regionally and continentally.

Boqo highlights the company’s state-of-the-art facilities, technically skilled employees, and youthful workforce, all contributing to their ability to produce high-quality products. He proudly mentions, “Our achievement in reaching the fastest rolling stock production rate globally is a testament to our capabilities.”

The SARA conference is seen as a vital platform for industry players and stakeholders to connect, collaborate, and share insights. Boqo underscores the value of this event for Gibela: “For Gibela, our value proposition lies in the opportunity to meet and engage with industry stakeholders, potential partners, and share our insights. It is also an opportunity for us to demonstrate our capability, our innovation in rolling stock manufacturing and services in South Africa.”

Gibela’s team at the conference will include board members, executives and technical experts from various departments such as engineering, sourcing, and supply chain. Boqo encourages attendees to engage with Gibela’s representatives during panels, presentations, and at their exhibition stand.

He extends an invitation to suppliers interested in collaborating with Gibela, particularly those who can contribute to improving local content and manufacturing solutions. “We are looking for partners that can localise some components, improve our manufacturing solutions, and make us more efficient in our production site,” Boqo explains.

Boqo concludes with a call to all industry stakeholders to join Gibela at the SARA conference: “It is not just a conference; it is a meeting of minds. People who want to change this industry and propel our region and the continent forward, come and join us. Let’s seize the opportunity. I look forward to seeing you all there.”

With this spirited invitation, Gibela Rail looks forward to an engaging and productive SARA conference, aiming to forge new partnerships and showcase their industry-leading capabilities.
